Searching for a job can be time consuming, stressful and a far from enjoyable experience. Not all recruiters are attentive. Not all companies are great at recruiting directly.
Here are some tips to help you.
What are you looking for?
This does not need to be the definitive answer. You do not need to narrow your search too much but knowing what is going to interest you is a worthwhile exercise.
What type of opportunity you want?
Do you want a permanent role or a temporary contract?
How much commuting are you prepared to do?
How much travelling within the role would you like to do on a monthly basis?
I will always ask you “during your career where were you happiest” which is often a difficult question to answer but will focus your mind to thinking do you favour a large company or a small company? Would you prefer an established company or a start up? How you like to be managed? How you like to manage others? The type of environment that gets the best out of you.
Start planning
Organise your schedule to search for jobs more efficiently. Determine how many hours per day or what days of the week you will dedicate to job hunting or networking.
Decide who you are going to choose to provide professional references and check with them to make sure the contact information you have is correct, gain their permission and prewarn them to expect calls soon.

Logging applications
Create a spreadsheet or use a book to note the jobs you have applied for and the interviews you have received.
Log applications under the following headings – Date, Company, Role, Pay, Recruiter details, Decision making process and finally a comments section.
You might also choose to set up a professional email account to keep your job search messages, interview confirmations and email conversations separate from that personal email you address you set up in different circumstances – partyanimal19@ is probably not relevant for future potential employees to correspond with you.
Video interviewing
Now is the time to set up a Skype / Zoom / Microsoft Teams type account to use for video interviewing. Do not leave this until the afternoon that you secure your first video interview. As mentioned above, this may be a separate account to the one you use for personal video chats with family and friends – A Skype ID of SmithFamilyBonkers may not set the right tone.

Updating
Follow up on the open opportunities at regular intervals.
Highlight, colour code or delete your spreadsheet when the role has been put on hold or closed so you can quickly see what is still live.
Research
When you are told about an opportunity by Triple Edge Solutions, we will always supply you with company information and where possible furnish you with a job description. Do not limit your knowledge on the company to our information, carry out your own research. Do this at the beginning of the process to make the interview preparation quicker and easier for you when the time arises.

Good luck with your job search.
